PACIFIC International Lines has announced the launch of PIL Intermodal Services to complement its container shipping service.

PIL Intermodal Services offers train, truck and barge services across the company’s existing network in Oceania, Asia, Africa, the Middle East and Latin America.

The new intermodal services aim to expand transportation options for cargo.

PIL expects the new offering to save time and resources in the transportation of goods from their places of origin to their final destinations.

PIL CEO Lars Kastrup said the company’s network of global offices, agencies and partners would help enable point-to-point connectivity across land and sea.

“We have seen growing market demand for intermodal services in recent years,” Mr Kastrup said.

“Our intermodal solutions will be well supported by our digital services including electronic bill of lading, and in the near future, GPS tracking.

“This solution is also aligned with our goal to reduce the overall carbon footprint of our operations as well as that of our customers.”

PIL said its intermodal services are now available in Australia and New Zealand.

Services have also been rolled out in Malaysia, Cambodia, Guatemala, India, Mexico, Saudi Arabia and throughout Africa.

The company plans to introduce its intermodal service in other parts of the world in the near future.
