OCEAN Network Express is adding 6500 new refrigerated containers to its fleet. The container line said the containers are to meet demand for refrigerated cargo, which it expects to continue growing this year.
ONE said it used water-borne paint instead of the traditional solvent-borne paint, which can release volatile organic compounds, which can be a pollutant. The company said the use of water-borne paint would help reduce emissions of volatile organic compounds by 80-90% while retaining similar durability and anti-corrosion properties as solvent-borne paint.
The company said it is working towards applying the latest internet-of-things technology into its fleet of reefer containers. This would provide real-time visibility of critical information such as the temperature and humidity inside the container.
ONE managing director, marketing and commercial Hiroki Tsujii said the company is committed to the refrigerated cargo segment.
“We maintain one of the largest and youngest reefer fleets in the world, equipped with the most advanced technologies designed to handle perishable cargo demand,” he said.
“As a socially responsible company and leader in the industry, we are also doing our part for the environment by using water-borne paint which reduces VOC [volatile organic compound] emissions.”
