OCEAN Network Express has announced the delivery of 14,000 TEU containership ONE Cygnus at Japan Marine United Corporation’s Kure shipyard in Hiroshima.
This is ONE’s third delivery this year after the MV ONE Apus in June and is the last delivery in the series of seven 14,000TEU magenta newbuilds.
According to the company, it is equipped with “outstanding safety and environmentally-friendly capabilities such as structural arrest technology and highly efficient welding technology”.
ONE Cygnus has a hull form aimed at optimising cargo-loading efficiency, which is achieved by minimising engine-room space.
So-called “crack arrest technology” aims to ensure excellent structural safety.
Moreover, the vessel is equipped with world’s first “dual rating system” technology in its main diesel engine, capable of adopting either high or low output ranges, allowing operational flexibility and improved fuel-consumption rate, resulting in carbon dioxide emissions reduction.
The navigation bridge adopted the Integrated Navigation System which is aimed at consolidating functions of vessel systems to reduce the workload of operators.
A wide window is also newly employed to enable widen visibility for vessel operators from the wing of vessel’s bridge when berthing and unberthing, helping with safety.
It is to be deployed on the Asia to Europe 3 (FE3) service, under THE Alliance (also incorporating Yang Ming and Hapag-Lloyd).
