HAPAG-Lloyd has appointed Stuart Sandlin as president of the company’s North America operations.
Mr Sandlin is taking the place of Uffe Ostergaard in the role.
Mr Sandlin is currently senior vice-president of sales for the US. He will assume the new position on 1 January. Mr Ostergaard is taking on another management position outside of Hapag Lloyd in the US.
Mr Sandlin joined the company in 2001 as a sales executive in Atlanta, Georgia. Since then, he has held several management positions in the US and Germany.
In 2015, he left Hapag-Lloyd to become president North America for the United Arab Shipping Company.
When Hapag-Lloyd acquired UASC in 2017, Mr Sandlin returned to the company and assumed his current position.
Hapag-Lloyd CEO Rolf Habben Jansen said he was pleased that Mr Sandlin would be succeeding Mr Ostergaard.
“With Stuart’s leadership experience and his vast commercial understanding, we will have a strong foundation for managing one of our most traditional key markets, but also for further growth in North America,” Mr Habben Jansen said.
“Uffe has made an enormous contribution to Hapag-Lloyd. We thank him for his passionate work for our company – not least for completing the consolidation of our USA-based operations in Atlanta.”
