MEDITERRANEAN Shipping Company is the latest carrier to announce rate changes, with increases for all container cargoes from Asia to Australia and New Zealand.
From 1 October general rate increases (GRIs) will apply as follows:
- From China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Korea and Japan to Australia, US$300/teu
- From Bangladesh, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam to Australia, US$150/teu
- From China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Korea, Japan, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam to New Zealand, US$300/teu
MSC previously announced an identical set of GRIs applicable from 1 September and 1 August in the same trades.

Earlier last week Hapag-Lloyd announced the same rate increases.
Separately, on Friday CMA CGM announced increases in FAK rates of US$250/teu for dry containers and $500/teu for reefers from North European, Black Sea and Mediterranean base ports to Australian and NZ main ports. The rises take effect from 1 October.
