WORK on the Port of Lyttelton Dredge Optimisation project has earned OMC top honours at the 2018 Dredging and Port Construction Awards in Amsterdam.
The awards were held this week in Amsterdam and OMC won the Support Service Provider of the Year for Port of Lyttelton Dredge Optimisation
Lyttelton Port Corporation is currently doing the largest redevelopment in its history, including a channel deepening project.
To accommodate bigger ships, LPC has started a channel deepening project which will see an increase in the depth of the existing shipping channel by five to six metres.
OMC was asked to review the existing channel design and submit two alternative designs for the channel depths. One was based on the port continuing to manage under-keel clearance risk based on a simple static UKC rule.
The other was based on implementing the Dynamic under Keel Clearance (DUKC) technology.
OMC is also a finalist in the Australian Shipping Awards Supply Chain Innovation & Technology Award to be held in Sydney on Thursday 22 November.
The awards are being held at the Sofitel Sydney Wentworth.
