AN employee at the DP World Australia Melbourne terminal recently attended work while testing positive for COVID-19.
A spokesperson for the stevedore told DCN operations were largely unaffected, with road and vessel operations continuing, in accordance with Victoria Department of Health and Human Services guidelines and the company’s comprehensive COVID safety management plan.
“We are working with DHHS to continue to identify all close or casual contacts, which is approximately a dozen employees who have been identified and are now in self isolation and awaiting their Covid test results,” the spokesperson said.
“We are confident that work will continue with minimal delays at the terminal.”
DP World Australia’s Sydney terminal shut down briefly after a COVID-19 case was discovered among the workforce there on 15 September. The following day, DP World announced it would require its entire workforce to have two doses of COVID-19 vaccine by 15 November.
Hutchison Ports’ Sydney terminal also shut down after some members of its workforce tested positive to COVID-19 and Melbourne’s Victoria International Container Terminal also dealt with two instances of the virus being detected amongst the workforce.
