CONTAINERISED cargo throughput at the Port of Fremantle dipped in September after a peak in August, according to the latest trade statistics from Fremantle Ports.
The port handled a total of 59,854 TEU in September this year.
This was a decrease (10%) on the previous month’s total throughput of 66,706 TEU. It was also a decrease (9%) on September 2020’s throughput.
September 2021’s total container throughput was also below the seven-year average throughput in September of 63,636 TEU.
Exports and imports were nearly even over September this year, with a total of 30,629 TEU imported and 29,225 TEU exported.
Looking at exports, we see a year-on-year decrease from 33,302 TEU in September 2020 to 29,225 this year – a decrease of 12%.
Imports also saw a year-on-year decline from 32,503 TEU in September 2020 to 30,629 TEU in September this year, a decrease of 6%.
