OOCL has welcomed the third of twelve new 24,188-TEU vessels into its fleet.

The new containership was officially named OOCL Turkiye with a ceremony at the Nantong COSCO KHI Ship Engineering (NACKS) shipyard in China.

NACKS is one of two shipyards building the “mega containerships” for OOCL. Dalian COSCO KHI Ship Engineering delivered OOCL Piraeus last month.

OOCL Turkiye is to join OOCL Piraeus and OOCL Spain on the Asia-Europe LL3 service loop.

At the naming ceremony for the newest containership, Shuai Chen, OOCL’s director of Network Planning Center and Procurement Management Center, thanked NACKS for their craftsmanship.

“Upon its delivery, this new vessel will be serving OOCL’s Asia-Europe route and enhance our market competitiveness,” he said.

“This vessel has adopted the latest green design and is equipped with advanced smart systems which can optimise its operational efficiency and reduce carbon emissions, meeting the requirements of customers and society for energy saving and carbon reduction nowadays.

“This is another proof of OOCL’s commitment to sustainability and environment.”

The Asia-Europe LL3 service calls Shanghai, Xiamen, Nansha, Hong Kong, Yantian, Cai Mep, Singapore, Piraeus, Hamburg, Rotterdam, Zeebrugge, Valencia, Piraeus, Abu Dhabi, Singapore and Shanghai.
