SWIRE Shipping is launching a new shipping service connecting Darwin with Timor-Leste, Singapore and Indonesia.

The East Timor Service (ETS) will call ports of Singapore, Dili, Darwin and Surabaya.

Swire Shipping expects two vessels, Kota Hidayah and Kokopo Chief, to operate the service from around mid-April.

“The MV Kokopo Chief is a multi-purpose vessel which can accommodate breakbulk cargo,” the company said in a service update.

“Each of her three vessel cranes is capable of 45 tonnes single lift, with a combined loading capacity of 80 tonnes.”

And 17,296-dwt containership Kota Hidayah can accommodate breakbulk cargo packed on flat rack containers, the company said.

“The new service provides customers with direct port calls into Surabaya and Darwin, with an improved frequency to Singapore and Dili.

“Customers shipping to Dili and Darwin from Singapore can look forward to fast transit time of eight days and 11 days respectively every 10 days.”

Swire Shipping said the new East Timor Service reflects its commitment to serving communities across Asia, East Timor-Leste and Australia.
