PORTS in the Pilbara have handled a total monthly throughput of 61.5 million tonnes for November 2023, according to the latest available statistics from the Pilbara Ports Authority.
This total throughput was a 4% decrease compared with November 2022.
The Port of Port Hedland saw a monthly throughput of 45.8 million tonnes. This was a 5% decrease to total throughput compared to November 2022.
Of Port Hedland’s total throughput, 44.9 million tonnes was iron ore exports.
Imports through the Port of Port Hedland totalled 185,000 tonnes, an increase of 2% compared with November 2022.
The Port of Dampier delivered a total throughput of 14.8 million tonnes, a 1% decrease from November 2022.
Imports through the Port of Dampier totalled 136,000 tonnes, an increase of 20% from November 2022.
PPA said several factors influence the fluctuation of throughput, including changes in market conditions, port maintenance operations and proponent needs.
Total throughput across all ports since 1 July 2023 is 307.9 million tonnes.
