Pilbara throughput increases in March

TOTAL throughput volumes at ports of Port Hedland and Dampier increased last month.

Pilbara Ports Authority said its ports handled a total of 62.1 million tonnes in March, a 3% increase compared with figures reported in March 2022.

Port of Port Hedland posted a monthly throughput of 46.5 million tonnes. Of this figure, iron ore exports accounted 45.8 million tonnes.

PPA said this marked a 2% decrease in total throughput compared with March 2022.

Imports through Port of Port Hedland totalled 189,000 tonnes, an increase of 29% compared with March 2022.

Port of Dampier handled a total of 14.7 million tonnes, a 21% increase compared with March last year.

And imports through the Port of Dampier totalled 87,000 tonnes, an increase of 23% from March 2022.
