PILBARA Ports Authority (PPA) reported a total monthly throughput of 57.7 million tonnes for April 2023.
This throughput was a 2% decrease compared with the same month last year.
The Port of Port Hedland saw a monthly throughput of 43.8 million tonnes, of which 43.3 million tonnes was iron ore exports.
This was a 5% decrease to total throughput compared with April 2022.
Imports through the Port of Port Hedland totalled 198,000 tonnes, an increase of 11 per cent compared to April 2022.
PPA said the Port of Port Hedland was closed for 23 hours in April due to ex-tropical cyclone Ilsa. This impacted PPA’s total monthly throughput.
The Port of Dampier handled a total throughput of 12.8 million tonnes, a 1% increase from April 2022.
Imports through the Port of Dampier totalled 108,000 tonnes, a decrease of 9% from April 2022.
