THE ports of the Pilbara have recorded an overall uptick in throughput for November, but imports at the major ports were down.
Pilbara Ports Authority reported a total monthly throughput of 59.9 million tonnes in November. This is an increase of 4% compared with the same month last year.
Port Hedland last month handled a total throughput of 43.9 million tonnes (an increase of 5% on November 2020), of which 43.4 million tonnes was iron ore exports.
Imports through Port Hedland totalled 167,000 tonnes, which was a decrease of 10% on November 2020.
Turning now to the Port of Dampier, we find a total throughput of 15.1 million tonnes for November 2021, a 4% increase on the same month last year.
Dampier’s imports for the month came to 111,000 tonnes. This was a decrease of 17% on the same month last year.
