AUSTRALIAN port agency Monson has acquired Meridian Port Agencies in a move that the company said would build its scale and international network.
A statement from Monson said the acquisition would expand its pan-Asian footprint, adding a physical presence in new areas: Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, Thailand and Myanmar.
“Combined with Meridian, Monson will be the leading dry and wet bulk agent across APAC, covering some of the fastest growing bulk export and import markets – Australia, South East Asia, and China,” the company said.
Monson is headquartered in Fremantle and has offices in most significant bulk ports in Australia.
Before the acquisition, it had international offices in China, Indonesia (in Jakarta, Merak/Anyer and Gresik/Surabaya), Malaysia (Port Klang and Pasir Gudang), Myanmar (Yangon), Thailand (Bangkok and Map Ta Phut/Rayong), Vietnam (Ho Chi Minh) and Singapore.
