PILBARA Ports Authority reported a solid increase in throughput at its ports in June.
Total cargo crossing the wharves of the northern Western Australian ports came to 65.9 million tonnes over the month. This was an increase of 4% on the same month last year.
The increase came despite a decrease in total cargo at the Port of Port Hedland over the period.
Port Hedland’s monthly throughput for June was 50.3 million tonnes, of which 49.8 million tonnes was iron ore exports.
This was a 1% decrease to total throughput compared with the same month last year.
Imports through the Port of Port Hedland totalled 185,000 tonnes, an increase of 7% compared to June 2021.
The Port of Dampier delivered a total throughput of 14.6 million tonnes last month, a 28% increase from June 2021.
Imports through the Port of Dampier totalled 116,000 tonnes, an increase of 50% on the same month last year.
