ASP SHIPS group has announced the appointment of Christian Riis as its new Chief Executive Officer, Asia.
Mr Riis was previously the director of marine safety & welfare strategy at mining multinational Rio Tinto.
ASP Group say Mr Riis brings strong commercial and industry knowledge from his previous roles with ship owners in Europe and Asia, and is poised to lead the company through its next phase of growth and development.
ASP is headquartered in Melbourne and provides maritime services including ship management, technical support, crew management, new building supervision, and marine logistics.
Of his new appointment, Mr Riis said, “I am honoured to join ASP Ships Group in Singapore at this pivotal time. The industry has been undergoing rapid changes in recent years, and I expect clients’ requirements to continue increasing in the coming years”.
“One area is, of course, the ongoing digital transformation, but also the urgent need for decarbonization of the world’s fleet, more advanced vessels, and compliance with more complex regulations.”
ASP emerged from the Australian maritime industry 60 years ago and are a significant player in ship management services for Australia and New Zealand.
Globally, ASP operates 12 offices in 10 countries, spread across Europe, Asia, and Oceania.
