AMC Search, the training and consultancy division of the Australian Maritime College has cut the time required to undertake its STCW Refresher training courses by over 50%.
In an exciting development, the theory section of its Refresher Training Courses have been converted to engaging online learning packages, which means seafarers can begin their studies anywhere, anytime. This also means trainees only need be on campus for face-to-face practical sessions, meaning learners now only have one night away from home instead of two.
Working closely with AMSA, AMC Search has converted the theory sections of the course to its online learning management system MyLo.

MyLo provides trainees with 24 hour access, so theory sections can be done at their own pace, instead of spending a full day in the classroom.
Recognising that not all seafarers are experienced at studying online, the courses are designed with easy navigation, guiding them through the learning experience.
The courses use simplified gamification teaching techniques, such as drag and drop exercises, to ensure trainees are provided with a course that is engaging and interesting.
The MyLo digital platform is the most advanced maritime digital training tool used in Australia and trainees are provided with a learning experience that is squarely focused on the AMSA training requirements.

The practical sections of the courses will still be delivered at the Australian Maritime College’s world class training facilities, providing seafarers with hands on simulations to test their knowledge and skills, giving excellent learning experiences.
