CONTAINER throughput in February at Fremantle Ports was at its lowest in a number of years, according to the latest trade statistics from Fremantle Ports.

In February, a total of 57,411 TEU crossed the wharves at the Western Australian port. This was the lowest monthly number since May 2020’s 56,482 TEU.

February’s throughput was a decrease of 29.3% on January’s total container throughput of 81,198 TEU. Year-on-year, it was down 23.5% on February 2024’s container throughput of 75,069 TEU.

February’s total container throughput was well below the average for the past 12 months of 75,308 TEU.

At 28,949 TEU, total containerised exports from the port last month was down 25.4% from January’s numbers (38,826 TEU) and down 28.7% from the corresponding period last year.

In February, total containerised imports dropped 32.8% from 42,372 TEU in January to 28,462 TEU.

Year-on-year, imports were down as well – February 2025 saw a decrease of 17.5% on the same month in 2024.
