Senior Operations Manager

This is an outstanding opportunity to utilise your operational and strong people management experience in a marine, transport, infrastructure or even heavy manufacturing environment in this dynamic leadership role. Our client is a global marine logistics provider, very highly regarded and a market leader in their industry. Part of the extended leadership team, you’ll be executing the global business strategy at a local level. 

Managing large port operations, you’ll be leading a broad multidisciplinary team including technical specialists and maritime crews. You’ll have P&L responsibility and critically manage customer and other stakeholder relationships, ultimately responsible for the efficiency, safety and profitability of the operations. It’s all about providing high levels of customer service in a fast-moving environment, whilst running a profitable business division of some $30 million per annum.  

This is also an environment of continual change meeting logistical and customer demands as well as operational efficiency, so change management capabilities will certainly play an important part in your success. Additionally, you’ll bring that innate ability to think on your feet, build relationships, solve problems and continuously improve how the organisation services its customers, whilst also optimising daily operations.  

Further within this change context, strong people and performance management capabilities are critical, leading operations in a highly industrial landscape with important Union relations.  The stakeholder base is broad, to hold critical relations with customers, Maritime and Port Authorities as well as Union representatives.  

This is a critical role at what is a very important juncture for the operations, we therefore seek experienced operational leaders. You may be from one of the industries I mentioned and accustomed to an industrial setting, but also critically owning a P&L and a senior stakeholder relations remit. Therefore, having the commercial acumen, relationship and people management expertise to go with that experience.
