THE PORT of Dampier has made an emergency closure of the Hampton Harbour Pontoon.
A notice issued by Harbour Master, Captain Mike Minogue on 15 December said port users were advised that due to unforeseen circumstances the pontoon had been closed for emergency repairs.
The pontoon provides facilities for vessel maintenance and repairs, for loading and unloading and is a hub for recreational activities in the Dampier Archipelago.
The notice said all services at the pontoon had been suspended. Repairs are expected to take at least 24 hours, and the pontoon will remain unavailable until further notice.
“Vessels requiring diesel or personnel transfers must make alternative arrangements. A further marine notice will be published advising when the pontoon is again in operation,” the notice said.
