FRUIT and vegetable exporter, Australian Global Exports was announced as the winner of the Ocean Economy category of the Fremantle Chamber of Commerce Business Awards at a gala event in Fremantle on 10 October.
Businesses are nominated for the awards and voted for by members of the public.
Australian Global Exports has been showcasing world-class Australian fresh fruits and vegetables in markets globally for nearly 20 years.
Other nominees in the Ocean Economy category were Fremantle Octopus, Indian Ocean Shipping Agencies, Sea Harvest, Bullocks Freightmasters International, Allegro, L3 Harris, International Maritime Services (IMS), Correia Fishing Co, TAMS Group, Viterra and For Blue.
Australian Global Exports head office is in Fremantle with its fruits and vegetables grown in the agricultural regions around the state.
The business claims its isolated geographical location gives it an advantage over east coast competitors when it comes to freight times to Asian and Middle Eastern ports with produce arriving quicker and fresher.
The Ocean Economy category was one of 15 broad-ranging categories ranging from favourite Fremantle entertainment venue, accommodation, cafe or restaurant, sustainable enterprise, tourist attraction, community organisation and more.
