ACFS PORT Logistics has announced the pilot of the company’s first electric truck, a Mercedes eActros, making it the first Australian company to do so for Daimler in the heavy vehicle range.
The Australian transport, warehousing, and freight provider announced the addition of the truck as part of its ‘ACFS Better Way’ program, marking the group’s commitment to sustainability and innovation in the logistics industry.
ACFS says that by integrating electric trucks into its fleet, the company is positioning itself at the forefront of industry, as regulations around emissions become stricter over time, with the group “proactively adapting” to ensure compliance and sustainability in its operations.
The Mercedes eActros operates on electric power, producing zero tailpipe emissions, and boasts “quiet operation” as a feature, minimizing noise pollution during operations.
The Mercedes-Benz website stipulated the eActros 300 can achieve a range of up to 330 kilometres on a single charge.
ACFS says the unit is designed for heavy-duty operations, offering “impressive” torque and acceleration, which the company says allows its logistics capabilities to remain robust, ensuring timely deliveries while maintaining high standards of service.
Arthur Tzaneros, ACFS port logistics CEO/MD said the company is proud to introduce the Mercedes eActros to their fleet and be at the forefront of clean transport solutions.
“This continuing focus to lead and innovate by piloting the heavy vehicle electric technology not only reflects our commitment to sustainability, but also enhances the service we provide to our customers,” Mr Tzaneros said.
“As we embrace innovative solutions, we are also taking significant steps toward reducing our carbon footprint and supporting the communities we serve.
“We believe that this initiative will pave the way for further advancements and investment in our operations and contribute to a greener future for all.”
The company, which began in 2005, has locations in both Australia and New Zealand.
