THE YENNORA Intermodal Terminal now offers two direct rail services to and from DP World’s Port Botany terminal daily.
The service, launched on Monday (20 May), is expected to manage an annual rail capacity of 160,000 TEU and reduce up to 160 truck trips per day.
Located 30 kilometres from Sydney’s CBD, Stockland’s Yennora Intermodal Terminal covers 70 hectares and 300,000 square metres of warehouse space, of which approximately 125,000 are currently managed by DP World.
DP World entered a strategic partnership with Stockland in August 2023 to operate the warehousing facility and dedicated port-rail service.
With the direct rail service, DP World aims to improve cost efficiency, reduce transit times, and improve supply chain resilience.
“We are establishing our own assets and building infrastructure where it’s needed to create seamless connections and provide increased control and flexibility,” Nicolaj Noes, DP World’s executive vice president, Oceania, said.
“The partnership means that we can offer services that suit the growing needs of our customers, and they can better rely on us to ensure their goods are delivered in a timely manner,” he said.
Tarun Gupta, managing director and CEO of Stockland said, “The terminal’s direct connection to ports, roads, and rail improves the logistics that businesses need in serving their customers. Its scale also enables DP World and its customers to take advantage of the growing economic opportunities in the region.”
An official ribbon cutting ceremony held on Monday was attended by Mr Noes and Mr Gupta, along with NSW Ports CEO Marika Calfas, member for Granville Julia Finn, and deputy head of mission, Embassy of the United Arab Emirates in Australia Amna Al-Suwaidi.
