ON THE first day of Spring women from across Sydney’s logistics community met for the IFCBAA Women in Logistics Breakfast.
A sumptuous breakfast and lots of coffee were served at Three Blue Ducks in Rosebery.
The sell-out event, hosted by the International Forwarders and Customs Brokers Association of Australia, was a welcome opportunity for guests to network and absorb some inspiring presentations.
Keynote speaker Monika Lemajic, president of WISTA Australia, shared her own experience with overcoming internal barriers; a challenge that resonated with many in the room.
She assigned the group “homework” to deal with those personal barriers: finding purpose, building courage and finding your tribe.
“We can’t wrangle other people into doing what we want, but we are at our own helm to navigate how we show up in situations,” Ms Lemajic said.
“Breaking those internal barriers is a brave thing – it’s giving fear a head nod and taking the plunge anyway.”
Ms Lemajic emphasised the value of goodness and kindness, and invited listeners to trust those values in others.
And personal branding specialist Emma Lovell of Lovelly Communications gave the group some expert tips for defining, maintaining and communicating an authentic personal brand.
Ms Lovell, who is familiar with the freight forwarding sector, encouraged each guest to embrace past experiences that helped shape their identities.
She gave the group a blueprint for applying their personal brands (and confidence) to jobs, careers, leadership and life in general.
