PROVARIS is moving ahead with its plan to build green hydrogen production and export infrastructure in the Tiwi Islands.
The company said the project would export up to 90,000 tonnes per year of hydrogen, to be exported via Port Melville.
The plans include a solar precinct area that would support 2600 megawatt peak of solar capacity, with annual generation to be about 5000 gigawatt hours. The energy would then be transmitted about 30 kilometres to a hydrogen production and export precinct.
In an ASX statement, the company said it is progressing with its early works program that covers detailed engineering, permitting and land and project agreements.
Provaris executive director and chief development officer Garry Triglavcanin said: We are pleased with the detailed work undertaken to date by our owners’ engineer (EC Partner) on the solar farm and transmission system and EcOz, our environmental consultant”.
Mr Triglavcanin said the key focus for Provaris is progression of the project and land agreement with relevant Tiwi Island stakeholders.
“Once a satisfactory outcome has been achieved, FEED and further engineering studies are planned to drive the projects toward financial close, targeted for the end of 2024,” he said.
“With the support of key stakeholders, the project development program still allows for Provaris’ targeted first hydrogen production and export for the end of 2024.”
