SEASPAN and Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller Center for Zero Carbon Shipping have agreed to collaborate on the development of zero carbon technologies for the maritime industry.
The two parties signed a partnership agreement that would see Seaspan work with the centre and other players in the shipping sector to develop new alternative fuels.
As a partner, Seaspan plans to contribute through secondments of R&D and shipping experts and make available test capacity on its own vessels in relevant projects and activities.
Peter Jackson, vice president projects and technology at Seaspan is to representing the corporation on the centre’s advisory providing strategic and technical guidance for the further development of centre activities.
Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller Center CEO Bo Cerup-Simonsen said establishing a credible industry transition strategy for zero carbon shipping in 2050 a deep understanding of the shipping business and dynamics.
“Seaspan brings tremendous technical and commercial expertise to our joint activities, enabling an acceleration of the development of the overall transition narrative as well as tomorrow’s solutions for shipping,” he said.

Seaspan Corporation COO Torsten Holst Pedersen said Seaspan was very pleased to join the charge toward zero carbon shipping.
