WÄRTSILÄ is integrating its fleet optimisation tool with an industry cloud platform built by DNV.
Under their partnership, the companies are rolling out the connection across the Anglo-Eastern fleet of more than 500 ships.
Having integrated its Fleet Optimisation Solution with DNV’s platform Veracity, Wärtsilä aims to send real-time operational data to Veracity for quality assurance and preparation for DNV’s verification services.
The goal is to make emissions compliance reporting easier for users.
Anglo-Eastern is the subject of the partnership as Wärtsilä partnered with the ship management company 2019 to digitalise its operations by fitting vessels with Fleet Optimisation Solution.
The fleet optimisation tool is a decision-support software platform for voyage planning, charter-party compliance, fuel efficiency and fleet performance management.
Wärtsilä said many Anglo-Eastern vessels use DNV as their appointed verifier to get accreditation for regulatory emissions reporting.
The partnership is expected to pave the way for other major fleet owners and managers to benefit from the same integration process.
DNV Veracity managing director Mikkel Skou said the service would be available to major fleet operators.
“Today’s shipping industry is increasingly in need of emissions data that can be trusted and securely used across the value chain,” he said.
“Veracity by DNV supports this trend by making it easier for industry players to enrich, verify and gain consented access to emissions data, making companies more efficient and future-proof.”
Ben Chng, Wärtsilä Voyage Services’ global director of sales, said the partnership would enable Wärtsilä to help Anglo-Eastern and other fleet managers and owners streamline their operations.
“We now have a truly seamless data link from vessels reporting to the shore offices of FOS users,” he said.
“In addition, they can now utilise Wärtsilä’s CII offering to collect, report, and analyse their environmental performance.
“This agreement strengthens our commitment to supporting the decarbonisation of shipping.”
And Anglo-Eastern CEO Bjorn Hojgaard also welcomed the agreement between Wärtsilä and Veracity by DNV.
“Wärtsilä has invested heavily in new digitally enabled strategies, and by partnering with them, we gain capabilities that assist us and our shipowner clients to be the leaders in digitalisation, safety, and sustainability.”
