FREMANTLE Ports reported an uptick in container throughput in March.
The port handled a total of 68,648 TEU in March. This was the highest total monthly throughput since October 2022 when the port handled 72,714 TEU.
March’s throughput was an increase of 14% on the previous month and an decrease of 1% on March 2022, when the port handled 69,111 TEU.
Compared with February, containerised exports from Fremantle increased 13% to 33,396 TEU.
Both coastal and international exports increased month-on-month – coastal containerised exports increased 12% to 1362 TEU and international exports increased 13% to 32,034 TEU.
And containerised imports to the port increased month-on-month by 15% to 35,252 TEU in March.
Compared with the previous month, March’s coastal imports decreased 15% to 6849 TEU, but international exports increased xx% to 28,043 TEU.
