SHIPPING analyst Sea-Intelligence has reported a sharp increase in global schedule reliability.
In the latest issues of its Global Liner Performance report, for February 2023, Sea-Intelligence said reliability increased by 7.7% month-on-month to 60.2%,
And global schedule reliability was 26% higher in February this year than it was in the same month last year.
The average delay for late vessel arrivals also decreased, dropping by 0.07 days month-on-month in February, to 5.29 days.
“In relative terms, the average delay for late vessel arrivals is now closer to the 2019 level than to the highs of 2021-2022,” Sea-Intelligence CEO Alan Murphy said.
The report said Maersk was the most reliable of the top 14 carriers in February 2023 with a schedule reliability of 64.9%, followed by MSC at 64.4%.
Hamburg Süd was the only other carrier with reliability above 60%.
PIL, CMA CGM, HMM, Evergreen, Hapag-Lloyd, Wan Hai, COSCO, ONE, OOCL, Yan Ming and Zim all had schedule reliability of between 50% and 60%.
Zim was the least reliable carrier in February 2023 with schedule reliability of 52%.
Each of the top-14 carriers recorded a month-on-month increase in schedule reliability in February 2023, with PIL, Zim, and Wan Hai all recording double-digit improvements.
Year-on-year, all carriers recorded double-digit improvements in schedule reliability with Wan Hai recording the largest improvement of 36.2%.
