WALLENIUS Wilhelmsen has launched a new management team and has adjusted its corporate structure.

The shipping company outlined several changes as part of its new structure, including a new business unit for digital supply chain solutions, a new compliance unit, a new marketing and communications team and a new focus on technology and data for its digital team.

The company has also set up a new taskforce, the Orcelle Accelerator. Its objective is to help the company begin its clean energy transition immediately and introduce zero-emission services by 2027.

It has also released the names and positions of its new executive management team.

The team comprises Torbjørn Wist, CFO; Wenche Agerup, chief people and corporate affairs officer; Anette M Koefoed, chief communications and marketing officer; Gro Rognstad, chief technology and information officer (acting); Pia Synnerman, chief customer officer; Xavier Leroi, COO shipping; and Mike Hynekamp, COO logistics and COO digital supply chain solutions.

Wallenius Wilhelmsen CEO Lasse Kristoffersen said the changes focus on transitioning to zero emissions, scaling up digitalisation and maintaining safety and compliance.

“Since I came to Wallenius Wilhelmsen in June 2022, I have spent time getting to know the company, but most importantly: the people and the culture,” he said.

“We have also updated our strategy and based on that decided to make some adjustments to the corporate structure and management team.”

Mr Kristoffersen said the company posted record results in 2022 and expects to see strong results going forward.

“The new company structure will enable us to deliver in the short term and help us develop our ambitions in the medium to long term.

“We will lead the way in transforming shipping and logistics towards a decarbonised, digital and resilient future.”

Mr Kristoffersen said all leaders at Wallenius Wilhelmsen intend to set goals around sustainability and mitigating climate change.

“We want to be a shaper in the fight against climate change. It could be a car, an excavator, or a battery pack, they all need to be emission free in the future. Shipping and logistics need to be zero emission.”

And also, Mr Kristoffersen said technology and digitalisation are central to the company’s new strategy.

“We have today access to digital technology and data that were unthinkable just a few years ago. Our industry has only started to harvest the value creation potential, and we are ready to put this into use, both for our customers and ourselves.”

The new management team and organisational structure came into effect on 30 March.
