PACIFIC International Lines is now a member of the Maritime Anti-Corruption Network.
In a statement PIL said: “By joining MACN, PIL conveys its strong support of anti-corruption practices which contribute towards fair trade to the benefit of society at large.
“With this membership, PIL is committed to contribute to MACN’s collective actions, as well as agreeing to comply with the rules and obligations.”
MACN works towards a maritime industry free of corruption. It was established in 2011 and includes more than 165 companies around the world.
According to the organisation’s website, it “works towards the elimination of all forms of maritime corruption by: raising awareness of the challenges faced; implementing the MACN Anti-Corruption Principles and co-developing and sharing best practices; collaborating with governments, non-governmental organisations, and civil society to identify and mitigate the root causes of corruption; and creating a culture of integrity within the maritime community.”
