FREMANTLE Port Authority has appointed Chris Sutherland as its new chair.
Ports minister Rita Saffioti announced the appointment on Wednesday (14 December). He will take over the role from current Fremantle Port Authority chair Ross Love, who has been in the role since early 2020.
Mr Sutherland has been a director of Southern Ports Authority since 2021 and served as managing director and group CEO of services firm Programmed for more than a decade.
Mr Sutherland’s appointment will become effective on 1 January next year. He is to serve an initial two-year term.
Ms Saffioti congratulated Mr Sutherland on his appointment.
“Chris has held numerous executive and non-executive leadership positions, and brings strong business acumen to the role, having previously served as the Managing Director and Group CEO of Programmed,” she said.
“I look forward to working closely with Chris as we embark on significant and transformational projects like Westport and Future of Fremantle.”
Ms Saffioti also thanked Mr Love for his three years as chair of the Fremantle Port Authority.
“Ross has provided excellent leadership in the role, and I wish him well for the future.”
