SWIRE Shipping is planning to upgrade its Southeast Asia (SEA) shipping service this month.

The upgraded SEA service is scheduled to commence in mid-December with containership Coral Chief, on voyage 2301S.

Swire Shipping said it is enhancing the service to call Jakarta more frequently and include Surabaya as a new direct port call.

The addition of Surabaya is an upgrade from the existing transhipment option.

“Customers shipping to Motukea from Jakarta and Surabaya can look forward to transit times of 10 and 8 days respectively,” the company said.

The SEA service currently connects Port Kelang, Singapore and Jakarta with Motukea, Lae, Rabaul, Madang and Honiara.

Swire Shipping said the service features fixed day windows with specified container terminals, which helps provide certainty and reliability for shipments.

“The SEA service is one of our well-established products,” the company said.

“We continue to invest in our product offerings and improve our service frequencies so that we can improve overall customer experience and save our customers’ time.

“The latest in our product offerings, the upgraded SEA service reflects our commitment to better serve customers and communities in the Asia-Pacific region.”

From mid-December, the service will call Jakarta every 14 days (previously every 28 days) and offer a 10-day transit time from Jakarta to PNG and eight day transit time from Surabaya to PNG.

Swire shipping said it will update this week’s commercial schedule to reflect the changes.
