PPA sees increase in October throughput

PILBARA Ports Authority has reported an increase in total throughput last month.

Over October, the ports handled a total of 63.4 million tonnes of cargo. This was an increase of 4% on the same month last year.

The Port of Port Hedland handled a monthly throughput of 47.5 million tonnes – of which 46.9 million tonnes was iron ore exports. PPA said this was consistent with the total throughput in October 2021.

Imports through the Port of Port Hedland totalled 161,000 tonnes, a decrease of 15% compared with October 2021.

The Port of Dampier handled a total throughput of 14.9 million tonnes of cargo. This was a 13% increase from October 2021.

Imports through the Port of Dampier totalled 115,000 tonnes, an increase of 3% from October 2021.
