NEW York Stock Exchange-listed container line Zim has opened a fully-owned agency in New Zealand.
The new agency replaces its third-party agent in the country, effective 1 November.
The company said its new New Zealand office would be led by Zim country manager David Mitchell.
Zim EVP intra-Asia Danny Hoffman said: “Our strategic goal is to expand and enhance our regional network connecting Asia, Australia and New Zealand, and the new agency is another milestone on our journey”.
And Zim VP medium and small countries Nir Avni said: “We continue to invest significant efforts and resources to strengthen and improve our services in New Zealand”.
Zim runs the New Zealand to Australia Service, which calls the ports of Melbourne, Sydney, Auckland, Tauranga and Lyttelton.
The company launched its trans-Tasman service in April 2021. It connects New Zealand with Asia via Australian ports.
The service expanded to include Lyttelton in February of this year.
