THE Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC) will carry out weekly shutdowns on the Glenlee to Moss Vale railway line on the Southern Highlands network.

The works will commence on Saturday 15th October from 1100 to 1600 and occur every week until Saturday 26th November.

ARTC said the shutdowns will allow maintenance works to be carried out which will improve services in the Southern Highlands network.

ARTC’s General Manager Asset Maintenance Services – Interstate, Costas Kokkoni said: “The maintenance works will be targeted at removing temporary speed restrictions, resurfacing, and vegetation management to ensure that the track condition remains at a high standard.

“The works will be carried out weekly on Saturdays to avoid disrupting the weekly commuter peak. The timing has been selected as it impacts the least amount of services over the regular five-hour period.

“We apologise for any disruption or inconvenience caused and thank the community for its support and patience while these essential works are taking place.

“Freight is an essential service. Regular maintenance works ensures that the Southern Highlands Network’s vital supply chain for the economy and jobs can keep moving, as well as keeping our customers, staff, and the community safe.

“While freight and passenger services will be stopped, we continue to ask motorists to remain vigilant and slow down at level crossings during the shutdown as there will be machinery and other movements on the rail line.”
