This week, industrial action unfolded across Australian ports after towage operator Svitzer Australia lodged a FWC application to terminate its enterprise bargaining agreement with its maritime workforce.
The move would have resulted in tug workers having their pay cut by almost 50%, sparking outrage among unions, who then adjourned the termination hearing until the end of this year.
In other news, there was a change of plans in the salvage of two sunken tugboats in Tasmania’s Port of Devonport, and Darwin Port exported the first load of iron ore from a local mining project.
We unpack these stories and more in the latest episode of The DCN Weekly, a new podcast from Daily Cargo News which provides a regular roundup of the biggest stories in Australian shipping and maritime logistics.
The DCN Weekly podcast is published to our website at the end of each week and included in each Monday’s newswire.
