HUTCHISON Ports Australia announced on Friday increases to its infrastructure levy for full containers handled at its Sydney and Brisbane terminals.
The container stevedore will charge an infrastructure levy of $159.98 to full containers handled at its Sydney operations starting on 1 June.
And in Brisbane, it will charge an infrastructure levy of $162.10 to full containers starting on 1 May.
In its announcement of the changes, Hutchison Ports Australia said it had delayed the recovery of capital expenditure and other infrastructure costs so far this year “to assist landside terminal users”.
“It has now become necessary to adjust the infrastructure levy which only partially covers the cost of infrastructure expenditure necessary to deliver yard services,” the stevedore said.
“In parallel with the above adjustment it is pertinent to note that landside tariffs have remained well below the cost of service delivery for some time and these also have now come under review due to cost increases to the business.”
