MID WEST Ports Authority has welcomed Damian Tully as its new chief executive officer.
Mr Tully has previously worked as the general manager for operations and logistics at MWPA and has been acting in the CEO role for the past 12 months.
Ports minister Rita Saffioti announced his appointment on Tuesday, noting Mr Tully is bringing more than 20 years’ experience in the maritime industry into his new role.
Within these two decades, Mr Tully has executed operations both ashore and at sea.
“[Over the past 12 months] he has demonstrated effective leadership, overseen significant milestones, and has become well connected with staff, stakeholders, and the community,” Ms Saffioti said.
Geraldton Port completed a number of projects during the time Mr Tully held his position, including maintenance dredging of the commercial harbour and navigational channel, and the Wharf 4 deck and rail upgrade.
A number of major projects are also at various stages of development, namely port-wide firefighting and the eastern breakwater jetty and Marine Terrace roundabout.
“I congratulate Mr Tully on his appointment and look forward to continue working with him and the MWPA team,” Ms Saffioti said.
Mr Tully is a graduate of the Australian Defence Force Academy and an associate fellow of the Nautical Institute.
His tenure comes into effect immediately.
