CONTAINER throughput in December at Western Australia’s main container port saw a month-on-month decrease but was in line with the same month in 2020, according to the latest trade statistics from Fremantle Ports.
This past December saw a total of 63,277 TEU cross the wharves at Fremantle. This was a decrease of 9.5% on November 2021’s throughput of 69,922 TEU.
However, December 2021’s total container throughput was only slightly below the average December throughput over the past six years, which sits at 63,527 TEU.
Total exports in December were roughly in line with November’s numbers, increasing by just 456 TEU.
However, imports saw a solid decrease in December, declining 18% on the previous month to 28,673 TEU.
