THE Port of Brisbane has concluded this year’s Safety 1 Forum with more than 150 participants having gathered to unpack this year’s theme, Resilience and the new normal.
Attended by customers and stakeholders from across the Port of Brisbane community, the forum provided an opportunity to discuss resilience, mental health, and adapting to change in challenging times.
Guest speakers Angelo Lambrinos, general manager, Assets Transurban; and Joel Katz, managing director, Cruise Lines International Association Australasia, spoke about how their organisations are navigating the choppy waters of COVID-19 and what they’ve learned along the way.
Port of Brisbane chairman Guy Cowan also addressed the forum.
Port of Brisbane’s interim CEO and CFO Neil Stephens said the Safety 1 Forum was an important event on the company’s calendar every year.
“Since 2010, PBPL has sought to bring the Port of Brisbane community together to take the time out to focus on health, safety, and wellbeing,” he said.
“It’s a key priority shared by all businesses out here at the port, and the forum provides that opportunity for us to hear from the experts and take new learnings back to our workplaces and to our families.”
Mr Stephens expressed his gratitude to event sponsors Patrick Terminals, IOR, Qube, and Chevron, who helped make the event possible.
He also congratulated this year’s Safety Champion Award winners, who are recognised for their commitment to health and safety in their workplaces.
The 2021 Safety Champion Award recipients include Justin Summers, Queensland Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment; Ben Slater, GrainCorp; Scott Coombs, Patrick Terminals; Alex Blair and Dave Persson, Svitzer Australasia; and Leah Stapleton, Qube.
