SCF this week closed the acquisition of Townsville-based Tropical Containers.
The company said it would build on Tropical Containers’ existing product offering and offer an extensive range of new equipment for lease and sale.
SCF CEO Justin Speedy said the company had adapted and responded to the changing needs of its clients across the country over the challenging past 12 months.
“The acquisition of Tropical Containers allows us to build our presence in the Northern Queensland market with a business and team that has been highly regarded in the region for the past 30 years,” he said.
“The Tropical Containers brand, products and customer-first approach aligns with the ethos and SCF business. We look forward to working closely with former owners, Ben and Lesley McMahon and their team, as their North Queensland Customs Services business continues to provide key services for numerous customers.”
Mr Speedy told DCN its presence in Northern Queensland was limited before the acquisition, which will establish a footprint there.
“We think there is going to be 25-30% revenue growth up there, as we have a broader product offer,” he said.
“There’s a lot of upside for the market, as we’re bringing equipment there that hasn’t been available previously.”
He said combining the business would bring synergies, mainly in the back-office functions.
“The main thing about the acquisition is not just the expansion of our footprint, but it’s the offering we can bring in,” Mr Speedy said.
“We’ve been keen to establish a presence up there for a while, so it was a great match for us.”
SCF said it plans to expand its positive employment possibilities within the local community alongside Tropical Containers’ current team. Additionally, SCF will take time to connect to existing sponsorships and local initiatives while simultaneously looking at new opportunities for community engagement.
