THE GOVERNMENT of Victoria has announced Metropolitan Melbourne is to go into Stage 3 lockdown from 11.59pm on Wednesday (8 July).
This follows a spike in cases in Australia’s second largest city, with 191 new cases reported on Tuesday morning.
Also included in the lockdown is the Mitchell Shire which is on the northern approaches to Greater Melbourne and includes such townships as Seymour and Kilmore.
The lockdown of Greater Melbourne follows the hard lockdown of public housing estates in Melbourne’s inner northern suburbs and the closure of the Victoria-NSW border on Tuesday night.
According to Road Freight NSW, indications are all freight will be waved through at the border from Victoria to NSW and where it is safe to do so a dedicated lane will be available for freight.
