A.P Moller-Maersk has appointed Ditlev Blicher as its new managing director for the Asia-Pacific, replacing Robbert van Trooijen who is becoming MD for Latin America.
Mr Blicher, a Dane, joins Maersk from DB Schenker, where he was there Asia Pacific CEO for the past four years.
Mr Blicher will be based in Singapore and is to be responsible for Maersk’s ocean and logistics activities.
Maersk CEO of ocean and logistics, Vincent Clerc, said “Ditlev has an impressive track record of delivering growth and operational excellence”.
“He is a high-impact executive with a strong background in operations throughout the Asia-Pacific,” Mr Clerc said.
“He will be a strong partner as we continue to explore new ways to innovative and grow with our customers.”
Mr Blicher said Maersk had begun on “a journey of transformation”.
“The commitment to this vision is palpable and it is with great excitement that I join this journey,” he said.
Mr Clerc praised the work of Robbert van Trooijen.
“Robbert has been instrumental in successfully leading the merger of Maersk’s ocean and logistics organisations in the Asia-Pacific,” he said.
