THE master of the APL England has appeared in Wynnum Magistrates Court, via video link, to face two charges relating to the loss of containers from the ship.
The charges were of discharging garbage at sea, pollution to the marine environment and damage to the marine environment.
These charges carry maximum penalties in excess of $300,000.
The matter was adjourned to 12 June in Brisbane Magistrates Court.
According to AMSA, The APL England remains under detention at the Port of Brisbane and will not be released until” its serious deficiencies” have been fixed.
The unloading of the damaged containers has begun and is expected to take several days.
The AMSA investigation is ongoing. The APL England lost 50 containers over the side of the vessel on Sunday May 24.
