THE second week of sub-sea salvage operations recently got underway with the MV Pride delivering nine containers to the Port of Newcastle for waste processing.
The containers were opened in a dedicated facility, where their contents were revealed for the first time since the YM Efficiency incident in June 2018.
According to AMSA, contents included furnishing products, plastics, scooters, tyres and two new utility trucks.
Materials that can be salvaged or recycled are being processed, including the metal containers and trucks which will be turned into scrap metal.
MV Pride’s port stay during poor weather last weekend, was said to be an opportunity to do repairs and modifications to the vessel’s retrieval equipment.
At the time of publication, 23 containers have been retrieved and identified against the vessel’s manifest, with recent retrievals understood to hold bicycle and truck parts, home wares, furniture, machinery and plastics.
