CONTAINERCHAIN has announced it has agreed to extend its payment terms to 21 days to help Australian container transport operators manage cash-flows during coronavirus pandemic.
This follows consultation with Container Transport Alliance Australia.
Containerchain has agreed the 21 days payment terms will be available to transport operators for notification fee invoices for three months from March 2020.
The payment terms’ extension is to be kept under review as container logistics trade is affected by the current global health emergency.
Containerchain managing director, Chris Collins, said the decision “shows our support and commitment to being an industry focussed technology provider for the benefit of the industry”.
“We too are feeling the economic impact of the current global downturn in trade, but we want to ensure that we work with the Australian container logistics sector to get through this current crisis as best we can together,” Mr Collins said.
CTAA director Neil Chambers, thanked Containerchain for its cooperation.
“The current downturn in trade is having a significant cash-flow impact on container transport operators,” Mr Chambers said.
“The willingness of Containerchain to assist the sector in these current difficult economic circumstances is welcomed.”
Mr Chambers said they were also working with Containerchain to address systems’ issues that impact on the fees paid by transport companies for access into Australia’s empty container parks.
“This includes addressing the issue of cancelled or unused Notification slot bookings that are not the fault of the transport operator not being charged a notification fee,” Mr Chambers said.
Containerchain invoices generated from 1 April 2020 (for March notification fees) are to have payment terms of 21 days. Transport operators who require help or further information should call Containerchain Support on 1300 944 083 or email: support@containerchain.com
