A TOTAL of $500,000 in financial contributions together with critical transport and logistics support is the basis of a bushfire support package announced this week by Qube Logistics.
As has been well-documented, parts of Australia have been hit hard by bushfires over summer and industry has done its best to provide aid.
“As a business, we wanted to consider the best way that Qube can offer support to those impacted by recent events including the ongoing drought and bushfires,” said managing director Maurice James.
“In December, we announced a Buy-a-Bale campaign in conjunction with Rural Aid. Rural Aid is on the front line supporting farmers who have been impacted by drought and now also by bushfires. In addition to the drought impacted farmers, there are now over 10,000 fire-affected farmers and over 10 million farm animals in fire-affected areas.”
Mr James said Qube was matching every employee dollar with two dollars on the Buy-a-Bale campaign, plus providing “in-kind” transport for hay and water purchased with these donated Buy-a-Bale funds.
“We feel this is a good way to maximise donated dollars and use our logistics expertise to make a difference,” he said.
“Additionally, we will continue to work with charity partners such as FoodBank to provide in-kind delivery and storage for immediate disaster relief products, as well as continue to provide logistics services during the long process of rebuilding impacted communities.”
