GLADSTONE Ports Corporation’s RG Tanna Coal Terminal reported the highest coal exports of the month of December since 2014.
Acting chief executive Craig Walker said a total of 5,684,688 million tonnes was exported from the terminal – the highest export total for December in five years.
“We are continuously working to improve our services in the safest and most effective manner possible,” Mr Walker said.
“RGTCT can handle up to 42 coal types across 85 stockpile zones.
“The majority of coal handled at RGTCT is metallurgical coal, with its major destinations including Japan, India, South Korea and China, for production of high quality steel manufacturing.”
Mr Walker praised Port of Gladstone staff, describing them as “the backbone of our business”.
“It takes considerable expertise and care to ensure the safe handling of coal across the supply chain and our staff and partners are unwavering in ‘safety first’ handling coal and moving ships through our port,” he said.
“This was a great way to wind up a very successful decade for the Port of Gladstone, and sets the benchmark as GPC remains focussed moving into this decade with sustainable intergenerational thinking, planning and a strategy to secure its position as the premier multi-commodity port in Australia.”
